Palais Lascaris is located on Rue De Droite in the heart of Nice. This Baroque Palace dates back to the 17th century but was restored to its original beauty by the city in 1946. It is thought the Palace is associated with the Lascaris-Vintimille family and was built for Jean-Baptist Lascaris-Vintimille.
The Palace contains elaborate detailed ornaments and is an exhibition of Nice’s history and culture. Many of the building’s original features, including ‘trompe l’oeil’ paintings, elaborate plaster work and an imposing façade, have survived as a testament to the wealthy era it was built in.
The most attractive floor is unquestionably the ‘étage noble’ or the ‘Noble floor’. This has managed to retain many of its 18th century panels and plaster. If you visit the palace you see the pharmacy, which was built around 1738 and many of the original Delfaware accessories is also on the premise.
Palais Lascaris is open all year round from 9am to 7pm. Guided tours are available, foreign languages include English, Italian and German.
